Novice Class Scoring
1st Place… 5pts
2nd Place… 3pts
3rd Place… 2pts
All Others… 1pt
To receive points teams must finish the event, turn in their completed score card (or upload Richta CP scores), and return their magnetic car number if the event was using such. Drivers and navigators accrue points as a team. Standings will be determined using the team’s best 5 results out of the 6 events in the 2023 Friday Nighter Series. This allows competitors to miss one event without penalty.
Ties for the Novice Championship trophy places will be broken using the first effective criteria:
- The team completing the most Friday Nighters
- The team with the most 1st Place finishes
- The team with the most 2nd Place finishes
- The team with the most 3rd Place finishes
If none of these criteria break the tie, matching trophies for the tied positions will be awarded. In order to receive an earned trophy, winners must be present or be represented at the finish of the last event of the 2023 series. Winning the Novice Championship mandates that your team advance to SOP class next year.

The depth of trophies distributed in this series will be dependent upon the number of qualified entrants. All events will be counted. SOP Championship contestants who work an event instead of competing will earn 10pts but may only earn this once.

If none of these criteria break the tie, matching trophies for the tied positions will be awarded. There is no mandatory advancement of the SOP Champions into the MASTERS class. However, if you have won two SOP Championships you are no longer eligible for points in further SOP Championships.
