Well, Seafair weekend was sort of a bust weatherwise, but we made up for it by checking out and measuring the August Friday Nighter. The route is superb, winding it’s way from Bellevue to Auburn. Speeds are brisk, with quite a few 45 mph roads. The rallymaster, John Humphrey, brought us something else that we haven’t seen for a while….Traps. Nothing too difficult, just a reintroduction to looking for multiple things at the same time. Penalties are small, so getting the traps wrong won’t hurt too much. The rally finishes at Athens Pizza in Auburn.

Registration for this novice oriented event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park & Ride Parking lot in Bellevue (14200 SE Eastgate Way). The drivers meeting is at 7:10 and first car out will be 7:31. The entry fee is $20. The “bring a new team and your entry is free” special continues, so invite some friends and enjoy free entry.

Garmina Shrugs, Sunday, July 24th, CANCELLED

Garmina Shrugs, the gimmick style GPS rally, scheduled for Sunday, July 24th has been cancelled. The organizers discovered some logistical issues that could not be resolved before the event. Jack Heppes, the rallymaster, did an awesome job with the course. The course featured curvy roads, and where the roads were straight, Jack put in instructions that made you turn. We had a long odo check transit, but that got us out to roads that we rarely see on a Friday Night rally. Great fun. Most everyone seemed to have a good time.

Congratulations to Aaron and Annette Nelson, who won the Novice Class, Mark and Scott Weaver, winners of the SOP class and 2nd overall, and Scott Margerum and Mike Workman, 1st Masters and 1st Overall.

A big thank you to the workers from ORCA for putting on the event: Jack Heppes, rallymaster and Pace, Steve Roberts, Pace, and checkpoint workers Pat Biggar and Rick Ross, Debbie Sjodin and Don Gibson, Ben Thompson and Eric Hobbs, and Start Control, Gary Coon. Without the workers, these events would never happen.
