May 21, 2015 By Kelly Smith Leave a Comment

We’re cruising into the Memorial Day weekend, time for camping, the Indy 500 and various other recreation opportunities. That puts us two weeks out from the next great rally event, No Alibi by Rainier Auto Sports Club on June 6th and 7th. No Alibi is a two day rally with no traps. It’s a really fun event, using smooth gravel roads in Eastern Washington. Online Registration is open on the RASC Website. Check it out here: http://www.rainierautosports.com/scripts/registration.php

May Friday Nighter Results

May 15 Friday Nighter Results

We had a nice smooth event; just the way a rallymaster likes it.  Steve Roberts and Don Gibson came within 1 second of a perfect score.  1st Masters Ben Thompson and Eric Hobbs put up a very impressive score of 16.  1st SOP also put up a very impressive score of 28.  A nice run, all the way around.

Thanks to the workers, Vasco DePinna and Zach Jackson for working registration, Start and Sweep; Mike Workman and Scott Margerum for Checkpoints 1 and 2; Mike Daily and Steve Pfau for Checkpoint 3 and checking the calculations; Dave Treen for Pace, Dash Plaques and Trophies.  Everyone helped on the checkout.  Events like this are a team effort and we would be hard pressed to put them on without a good team.

May Friday Nighter

May 4, 2015 By Kelly Smith Leave a Comment

This coming Friday, May 8th, PSRC presents the May Friday Nighter, “A Bike Lane This Way Goeth”. The rallymaster is yours truly, Kelly Smith. The name owes itself mainly to the fact that during the measurement this weekend, parts of the roads on the course were being used for bicycle and running events, and one of our regular rally roads has had the addition of a bike lane.   You can run the rally Friday night and bike the route on Sunday, if you like. Following the lead of this year’s other rallymasters, this event will feature no course following traps. It will be a nice drive through the country on a spring evening. Last month had frogs, at this point it seems doubtful that we will see them this month. We encountered deer on the checkout.

Registration for this novice oriented event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park & Ride Parking lot in Bellevue (14200 SE Eastgate Way). The drivers meeting is at 7:10 and first car out will be 7:31. The entry fee is $20. Don’t forget that we’re running the “bring a new team and your entry is free” special. The rally finishes at Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria, 715 NW Gilman Blvd in Issaquah. Come on out and join us for a good time, and bring your friends!

Raindrop Rally, Sunday, April 19th

April 12, 2015 By Kelly Smith Leave a Comment

Next Sunday, April 19th, Rainier Auto Sports Club presents the Raindrop Rally, a leisurely paced touring TSD event with fine driving roads, minimum traffic and wonderful scenery. The rally is geared toward the novice entrant with no traps and mileages for every instruction but precise timekeeping will still be required to score well. Awards will be given for the following classes: Unlimited, Equipped, SOP, Novice, and Vintage. The rally is about 5 hours and 140 miles long on all-paved roads suitable for any automobile.  Rainier has been putting this rally on for so long, we’ve all stopped counting.  It has a history of good weather, in spite of the name, and is always fun.  Check-in and late registration open at 8:30 AM at Kit Carson Restaurant, 107 SW Interstate Ave. Chehalis, WA 98532 (Exit 76 off I-5).  There will be a novice meeting at 9:00 AM; a drivers meeting at 9:30 AM and first car goes out at 10:01 AM.  Preregistration is available on RASC’s Website:  http://www.rainierautosports.com/events/2015/raindrop/

Come on out and join us.  You’ll have a great time!
