Thanks to the folks who worked the checkpoints and ran the event.
Without them, these events would not be possible.
TSD Rally Home of the Pacific Northwest
Friday, Friday, FRIDAY! This coming Friday, October 9th is the last Friday Nighter of the season, the October Friday Nighter, presented by Rainier Auto Sports Club. Mark Nolte is the rallymaster, and he calls it “Insert Rally Name Here”. Mark has been putting on rallies as long as anyone, and usually picks out good roads. Mark says that it is a fun run, with no traps, that heads out North and ends at the Pizza Hut in South Everett. It features a nice collection of curvy roads and will give everyone the opportunity to drive in the dark, and possibly rain. October and November rallies around here are notorious for drawing bad weather and dark conditions, which often adds to the challenge.
Registration for this novice oriented event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park and Ride in Bellevue. First Car out is at 7:31. There will be a drivers meeting around 7:10. Come on out and join us for a very enjoyable route and some excellent pizza. Remember that the bring a new team and get free entry offer is still good this month. Bring some friends and get free entry!
Novice and SOP Championships will be decided and awarded on Friday.
We hope to see you there!
The September Friday Nighter was an interesting affair with no traps. It was sort of a Monte Carlo Style Rally with no alpines. It was straight forward and easy and well received by most of the competitors. Scores were all over the place, in spite of the hints the rallymaster gave on the official time seconds. Thanks to the folks who worked the rally; without them these events could not happen.
As we cruise into the Labor Day Holiday weekend, we find ourselves a week away from the September Friday Nighter, next Friday, the 11th. ORCA is presenting this one and the rallymaster is none other than Don Gibson. Don has spent nearly a lifetime riding as navigator with local hotshoe, Steve Roberts. For those that don’t know, Steve fielded a fast and reliable Mazda RX-2 in the local Pro-Rally circuit. Don has also done some driving of his own. This month, he has planned a rally that he calls “Butt Simple”. There are Supplementary General Instructions for this month:
ORCA’s September 2015 Friday Nighter Supplemental Instructions.
** Only paved roads will be used for tonight’s rally.
** All instructions will have mileages and mileages will take precedence over the route following priorities so, when in doubt, follow the main road and do the instruction at the mileage. No route following traps will be based on this. ‘MBCU’ will be used at places where the route might not be clear.
** All mileages will continue through checkpoints so don’t re-zero your ODO at checkpoints. You will be told in the instructions when to re-zero your ODO.
All other General Instructions remain unchanged.
It should be a pretty straight forward run, although Don has promised a twist that will be explained the night of the rally. In any event there will be fun to be had.
Registration for this novice oriented event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park & Ride Parking lot in Bellevue (14200 SE Eastgate Way). The drivers meeting is at 7:10 and first car out will be 7:31. The entry fee is $20. Don’t forget that we’re running the “bring a new team and your entry is free” special. The rally finishes in Auburn. Come on out and join us for a good time, and bring your friends!
