August Friday Nighter
Hey, y’all!
This coming Friday, August 14th, is the August Friday Nighter, “Tatty Hunts Bigfoot” , put on by FOOTZ (the Fraternal Order of the Zero) and PSRC (Puget Sound Rally Club) . That’s right, you’ll have the opportunity to match wits once again with our favorite phantom Bantam rooster. Tatty’s tricks are light, with low penalties, so there is not much there to hurt you. It’s a fun run that heads out North again, albeit not as far North as last month. It features a nice collection of curvy roads, and of course, Tatty. We will end in Snohomish again at Brava Pizza and Pasta. The rally is not all that long, so folks who want to run Mountains to the Sea on Saturday can enjoy our rally and still have time to get closer to Portland to stay the night.
Registration for this novice oriented (really!) event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park and Ride in Bellevue. First Car out is at 7:31. There will be a drivers meeting around 7:10. Come on out and join us for a very enjoyable route and some excellent pizza.
We hope to see you there!
September Friday Nighter Supplemental Instructions
The September Friday Nighter has supplemental general instructions. Here they are:
ORCA’s September 2015 Friday Nighter Supplemental Instructions.
** Only paved roads will be used for tonight’s rally.
** All instructions will have mileages and mileages will take precedence over the route following priorities so, when in doubt, follow the main road and do the instruction at the mileage. No route following traps will be based on this. ‘MBCU’ will be used at places where the route might not be clear.
** All mileages will continue through checkpoints so don’t re-zero your ODO at checkpoints. You will be told in the instructions when to re-zero your ODO.
All other General Instructions remain unchanged.
July Friday Nighter Results
ORCA presented “The Rally with No Name”. The Rallymaster was Steve Roberts. Steve assembled a very entertaining rally that included a protection trap and an “OR” trap that most of the field bought. Four cars got it right. The roads were fun, the flow of the course was good and the control work was impeccable. As a bonus, the pizza at Brava Pizza was excellent! It is a shame that more people did not join us to enjoy the fun.
Congratulations to Novice Class winners Jordan Keffer and Derek Ihler with a score of 125; SOP Class winners David Johnson and Ryan Welsh with a score of 49; Masters Class winners Timothy Hall and Curt Thompson with a score of 19, and Unlimited Class and overall winners Steve Pfau and Mike Daily with a score of 2.
Thank you to Steve Roberts and Debbie Sjodin for their work on the course and running pace; Thank you to the crews who worked: Checkpoint 1 and Scoring, Pat Biggar and Hal Dittman; Route Control 1, Eric Hobbs and Ben Thompson; Checkpoint 2, Dave and Kathy Sacry; Checkpoint 3, Gary Coon and Jack Heppes; and Start/Sweep, Don Gibson and Ardis Dull. Without the workers, these rallies wouldn’t be fun at all.
