This coming Friday, September 14, NWRC will present the last rally of the Summer, “Seven Minutes after Sunset.”  The Rallymaster will be Kelly Smith.  We ran the checkout last week and found the course entertaining, with good roads, a few easy traps and a good pizza at the finish.  It was the first time since April that I had to use the headlights all rally long.  Rallying in the dark is less scenic, and adds to the challenge.  Everyone on the checkout seemed to enjoy the course.  You should come on out and enjoy it too!  The rally ends at Brava’s Pizza and Pasta in Snohomish, WA.  https://www.bravaspizza.com

Registration for this novice oriented event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park & Ride Parking lot in Bellevue (14200 SE Eastgate Way). The drivers meeting is at 7:10 and first car out will be 7:31. Car Zero is out at 7:30, 7 minutes after sunset….  The entry fee is $20. We are a week away from the July Friday Nighter, an event that will have daylight through most of the rally.  This year, the event is presented by ORCA, and the rallymaster is the master himself, Steve Roberts.  Steve routinely chooses cool roads and then finds cool traps on them or he finds cool traps and then find cool roads to get there.  Either way, the rallies have been fun and challenging.  The name of the rally is EAST!  I’d guess that to mean that the rally will be using the roads east of Issaquah.  Steve says the theme is “do you know your general instructions?”  That means there will be a few traps, at least.

With any luck, the rally will be scenic as well.  The last time we were tooling around east of Issaquah, we saw a herd of elk.  Plus there are many places out that way to get good views of Mt. Si.  And as I mentioned, we will have daylight for much of the event.

Friday, Friday, Friday!!!  This Friday, May 11th, ORCA presents the May Friday Nighter.  The Rallymaster is Jack Heppes.  Jack likes drivers events, having authored some 9 SnoGit Monte Carlo Style Rallies.  All were outstanding courses, really fun to drive.  I expect that will be true of the May Friday Nighter too.  That’s not to say that Jack might not sneak in a trap or two, but even if he does, the roads will be excellent.  Jack has promised us a Northerly route, ending at Brava Pizza in Snohomish.  The weather is supposed to be good.  We should have daylight until almost 9:00.  Jack promised it would be fun!  It stands to be a very good time!
