October Friday Nighter — 10-12-18

October 4, 2018 By Kelly Smith Leave a Comment

On Friday, October 12th, RASC presents the last rally of the season, “Boy, is it dark! 2018”  The rally heads East and then South, working its way down to the finish at Athens Pizza in Auburn.  https://www.athenspizzaauburn.com/

That whole area is full of wonderful roads and some powerful darkness.  Driving lights aren’t required, but they are helpful.  RASC rallies are typically tours, devoid of traps, so this should be a chance to just cruise and have a good time.

Registration for this novice oriented event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park & Ride Parking lot in Bellevue (14200 SE Eastgate Way). The drivers meeting is at 7:10 and first car out will be 7:31. The entry fee is $20. Don’t forget that we’re running the “bring a new team and your entry is free” special.  Come on out and join us for a good time, and bring your friends!

September 2018 Friday Nighter 9/14/18

September 9, 2018 By Kelly Smith Leave a Comment

This coming Friday, September 14, NWRC will present the last rally of the Summer, “Seven Minutes after Sunset.”  The Rallymaster will be Kelly Smith.  We ran the checkout last week and found the course entertaining, with good roads, a few easy traps and a good pizza at the finish.  It was the first time since April that I had to use the headlights all rally long.  Rallying in the dark is less scenic, and adds to the challenge.  Everyone on the checkout seemed to enjoy the course.  You should come on out and enjoy it too!  The rally ends at Brava’s Pizza and Pasta in Snohomish, WA.  https://www.bravaspizza.com

Registration for this novice oriented event opens at 6:45 PM at the Eastgate Park & Ride Parking lot in Bellevue (14200 SE Eastgate Way). The drivers meeting is at 7:10 and first car out will be 7:31. Car Zero is out at 7:30, 7 minutes after sunset….  The entry fee is $20. Don’t forget that we’re running the “bring a new team and your entry is free” special.  Come on out and join us for a good time, and bring your friends!

August Friday Nighter, 8-10-18

August 6, 2018 By Kelly Smith Leave a Comment

This Friday, ORCA presents Butt Simple 2.  The rallymaster is Don Gibson.  This rally will feature alpine instructions with mileages to each instruction.  The mileages will help you find the location of each instruction and should make the rally easier overall.  In addition there will be no traps.  Don wrote a couple of these a few years ago and they were very fun.  The rally is running south, and will finish at Farrelli’s Pizza in Maple Valley. July Friday Nighter, July 13th, 2018

July 6, 2018 By Kelly Smith Leave a Comment

We are a week away from the July Friday Nighter, an event that will have daylight through most of the rally.  This year, the event is presented by ORCA, and the rallymaster is the master himself, Steve Roberts.  Steve routinely chooses cool roads and then finds cool traps on them or he finds cool traps and then find cool roads to get there.  Either way, the rallies have been fun and challenging.  The name of the rally is EAST!  I’d guess that to mean that the rally will be using the roads east of Issaquah.  Steve says the theme is “do you know your general instructions?”  That means there will be a few traps, at least.

With any luck, the rally will be scenic as well.  The last time we were tooling around east of Issaquah, we saw a herd of elk.  Plus there are many places out that way to get good views of Mt. Si.  And as I mentioned, we will have daylight for much of the event.

The rally finishes at Mod Pizza, 22833 NE 8th St in Sammamish.

Come on out and join us for a good time, and bring your friends!
